Read the result correctly
Saving time uses the money still missing: max(purchase cost − current cash, 0) ÷ current income. Payback uses the full purchase cost divided by the extra income the upgrade adds.
For a replacement employee, enter only the difference between the new and old rates as extra income. For an additional occupied desk, enter the entire new worker’s rate. Keep boosts and the selected time unit consistent.
One worked purchase
Illustrative values: 2,000 cash saved, a 10,000 cash purchase, 100 cash per second now, and 25 extra cash per second afterward. You need 8,000 more cash: 80 seconds of active earning. Simple payback is 400 seconds after the purchase.
These are editable example inputs, not Steal an Employee stats. Zero income cannot fund an unaffordable purchase. Zero additional income gives no income payback; a speed upgrade may still help you complete a harder raid.
What the estimate leaves out
Rates stay constant, all intended workers are active, and you make no other purchases during the saving period. The result excludes training waits, income interruptions, future replacements, unmeasured boosts and offline earnings.
If the game shows a total rate per minute, choose “per minute.” Do not enter that number under “per second”: it would make the estimate 60 times too fast.
